Want to know what’s trending in the hair world right now? Here is what we’ve found:
The 1970s styles are coming back! Think Farrah Fawcett. Think Mandy Moore’s style in the show, This is Us. We are seeing “curtain bangs” coming back and a modern take on the shag haircut being requested and being showcased on celebrities. And we are digging it!
“Lobs” and Blunt Bobs
We are still seeing “lobs” aka long bobs requested in salons and showcased on celebrities. Lobs often paired with long wavy layers to give that undone look along with soft peek-a-boo colors to give a sun kissed, natural dimensional effect. Blunt bobs paired with maybe a shadow root or a bold, all over color.
Balayage isn’t going away anytime soon, and we hope not ever! Balayage (a French term meaning “to sweep”) is a technique used to sweep color into the hair. It can be as natural or as bold as a client desires, but we often see the natural colors mimicking the effects of the sun requested during the summertime.
To go along with a more undone look, people are requesting a shadow root, helping their natural color blend with their chosen hair color or highlighted look. This technique helps remove a line of demarcation as their natural hair grows and also offers dimension. This especially becoming common for clients who love being blonde but have naturally dark hair.
